For McSweeney’s Issue 73, a collection of influential manifestos from the twentieth century onward, I created custom lettering for the word “Manifesto,” to evoke the urgency and impact of these radical voices. Shaped like an exclamation mark, the design captures the bold spirit of the collection. A narrower adaptation on the spine maintains cohesion, while the endpapers use a repeat pattern for continuity. Art direction by Sunra Thompson at McSweeney’s, who elevated the issue with metallic silver materials and endpaper design.
